"My dream performance is one where me and my horses can work in perfect harmony. To me it does not matter if that's in the school at home, by myself, or at the Horse of the Year Show. I do this for the horses, not the glory"
Ben Atkinson
Ben is a professional equine stunt rider, trick trainer and rider from East Yorkshire. He has been riding his whole life and is a key member of the family business Atkinson Action Horses, who has spent nearly three decades training horses and riders for Film, TV and live events. They pride themselves on being ready for any task that comes to them and they provide to the industry, horse master and lead actors horses, stunt training for riders and horses, liberty horses, carriage driving horses and classically trained dressage horses.
"When I see a horse I see something that is pure and free, untainted by greed like humans are. I see something that will do anything for you and always love you no matter how many mistakes you make or how little you understand. They are the kindest and most generous creatures on the planet."
Each day will start at 09.30 and finish around 17.30.
The day will start in our gazebo, with a theory session from Ben, who will talk with us about his philosophy, his horses, how he achieves clarity, consistency & confidence and more! Ben will then guide everyone through rider sessions and demonstrations throughout the two days. Riders are welcome to focus on ground/liberty or ridden work, so the clinic is open to both those who ride and those who don't.
At our venue we have use of a sand arena and sand or grass round pens. It is very open, so please bring clothing for all weathers, from sun cream to raincoats! There is a large viewing marquee for spectators, should it rain.
Spectators, there is no need to bring your own chair as we have seating at the venue.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided all day, but please bring your own lunch and anything else you might need. Should you prefer to go out at lunchtime, the Three Horseshoes pub across the road serves good food, or there is an Asda superstore two miles away that has a range of hot and cold food options. Additionally, the nearby town of Marlow has a variety of shops, delis and supermarkets.
Respectfully, we ask that spectators do not bring dogs to the venue. This is because we have our own dogs that will be on site throughout the weekend.
Riders places are £350 for the two days. If you would like to ride, please complete the below application form, letting us know a bit about yourself and your horse.
*By making this payment I confirm that I have read and agree to the Terms and Conditions
